I'm excited to have my first solo exhibition showcasing my body of work, both in original watercolor paintings and large format reproductions of my work. Wildlife and nature are my "Portraits of Life" in recent years. Paintings of the natural world.
The show opens May 24, in Palm Beach Gardens Tennis & Pickleball Center gallery space and will run for 3 months until August 23.
I am so happy to be selling larger limited edition prints in my Etsy store, ClaudiaHafnerArt. These prints include my sea turtle collection, popular palm tree series, birds and other wildlife.
I have often been asked for larger sizes. So, with the demise of one of my printers, I was able to get a printer to move me forward with a few larger sizes. I now offer 5x7" up to 12x18". These are not matted or framed prints, but are printed on watercolor paper, signed and are limited edition. I have not updated every print in the store to the larger sizes yet, so if there is something you want please let me know and it will be the next piece I update.
, The new sizes may also be a precursor to making available larger prints for my outdoor shows but outdoor shows involve a lot more logistical issues, so I'll have to see.
I hope this is a welcome update my clientele.
Prints are an affordable option in decorating your home or office and I have always enjoyed making prints of my watercolors available to the public. So often I will see children come up to my browse bin at outdoor shows, all excited to be looking at the prints, and instinctively they must know there is a chance that their parents will buy one for them.
Recently, I placed signed, limited edition prints on Etsy in order to draw in those living far and wide. This also makes them accessible to all when I am not exhibiting at outdoor shows, thus expanding my selling season.
I've started out listing mostly SOLD watercolor pieces but will add others over time. A selection of birds, sea turtles, wildlife, pets and florals are listed.
I am printing these limited edition prints on 8.5x11 watercolor paper with 8x8 and 5x8 options that can be added. They are not matted or framed so that the buyer is not limited on the size and look of the frame. It is popular to frame a piece quite a bit larger which gives a zooming in effect...very nice on small pieces.
Setting up my Etsy shop, ClaudiaHafnerArt, has been my summer project this year and I am excited that it makes a good adjunct to my website and its offerings.

I am so ready for this! Happy to have been juried in and been eagerly anticipating getting back into the outdoor show (local) circuit. More than 15 new pieces are framed and ready to hang.
The venue at Old School Square, Cornell Museum in Delray Beach is a lovely venue. I am happy to be back exhibiting there.
I will display my original watercolor paintings, prints, large-format reproductions behind acrylic glass, and printed merchandise. Something for everyone! I hope to see you there!
I am participating in this holiday show, but what I am showing and selling are items from my 'past life' as a weaver. I have a lot of clothing and accessories, and even some yardage, of handwoven material I used to weave. Yes it is a departure, but also a clearing and letting go. Look for the soft goods section at the show.
I've done it! Finished the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Actually I painted 19 absolutely new paintings and slipped in a few painted earlier in the summer...but who's counting? Feeling very good about it...that it is over, and about my new works. Slowing they are getting framed for the selling and exhibiting season.
This year I wrote a blog post for each of these paintings and made sure they posted to social media. Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. I hope to continue this good habit at least a few times a week. Now I need to go plan the next series of paintings.
I have painted this subject twice before with a different assortment of chickens. They are so fun to paint with their plumb bodies and different colored feathers. Not to mention their facial expressions! Each painting was larger and now this one is larger still. Another aspect of my job is deciding what size to paint. I don't have hard facts to help me with this, so I looked at what I've been painting lately and wanted a larger painting in the mix.
Day 30. 30 paintings in 30 days*. This is the FINAL day. I must say YAY! Suddenly it is over and yet the journey uphill seemed quite daunting. I missed several days this week...but doesn't this painting count as 3??? I am very pleased with what I have turned out and will have a nice array of new paintings for the season. Two or three paintings from the batch are still unfinished, but all in all quite a feat.
*30 paintings in 30 days (also known as 30 in 30) is just that. A painting a day for 30 days.
And so selling season begins for me with this Fall Festival here in South Florida. Anyone in the area that can come by and purchase directly from me will save shipping costs.
The above photo shows the type of display I will have in this indoor show as opposed to the open tent I use in the outdoor festivals. Small original watercolor paintings, mostly 6x6" and 6x8". 9x12" matted prints, keepsake boxes, coaster tiles, cards and tote bags. If the setup allows space for a large-format print, I will bring one or two.
Supply will be limited by the space I have, so coming early will be your best bet to get the most variety. Doors open at 8 am (YIKES!) and close at 5 pm. Easy to reach off US1 / Federal Hwy.
Below is a flyer with a $1 off toward the $3 admission price. Hope to see many locals there.
The 2018/19 season is beginning for me in South Florida. Small holiday shows in churches and community centers head up the season with mostly printed merchandise featuring my watercolors. For certain shows I will also have my smaller original paintings including my 6x6" on paper mounted on a wood cradle.
Printed merchandise consists of ceramic tile coasters; keepsake or jewelry boxes which also hold 4-5 tiles making a very nice house warming or hostess gift; greeting cards, and tote bags (not shown here), and matted 9x12" prints. All perfect for gifts and stocking stuffers.
If room allows I will display one or two of my large-format reproductions behind acrylic glass.
All shows are listed with dates and locations on my Exhibitions & Festivals page.
Shows with mostly printed merchandise are:
FESTI-FALL Arts and Crafts Show
Southern Handcraft Society - Delray Beach An Olde Fashioned Holiday
Shows with original paintings and some merchandise are:
Fall Art on the Square 2018
West Palm Beach Arts Festival
I have been wrestling with this guy for days and he is still unfinished. That is what I get when I use a terrible resource. Since I tend to paint what I see, what I was seeing was terrible. I have since altered it from what I was seeing, but I'm not finished yet.
I love the ears pointing straight out from the sides, which was why I wanted to paint it. I hope I get to a point of liking it. We shall see.
Day 26. 30in30 painting challenge. The pressure of a painting a day has caught up with me. My exhibiting life has slowing been taking over, and pushing this daily painting aside. If I wasn't frustrated with this particular painting, my output would probably be different. Just a few more days of commitment to the challenge.
